After learning about what it means to feel angry last week, we looked at ways to help us calm down and FEEL BETTER this week.  The children learned some breathing techniques to help calm, they made breathing wands to help them focus their deep breathing.  They also made calming jars to watch and give a moment of mindfulness.  The children shared their own personal ideas about what helps them to calm too:
  • Going to a safe space
  • Reading a book
  • Bouncing on the trampette
  • Running around
  • Bouncing a ball against the wall
  • Having a sleep
  • Breathing deeply
  • Punching something soft
We turned their ideas into a poster for the caterpillar room
